Legal
Acceptable Use Policy
What you may and may not run on our hardware. Short version: play games, do not attack anyone, do not host anything illegal.
Effective 2026-09-15
The short version
Run game servers. Do not attack anyone. Do not host illegal material. Do not use your server as a general-purpose computer to mine cryptocurrency, proxy traffic, or crack passwords.
If something you want to do is not obviously covered here, ask us at [email protected] before doing it.
Prohibited outright
You may not use the service to:
- Break any applicable law, or facilitate someone else doing so.
- Host, distribute or link to child sexual abuse material. We report this to the authorities without warning and without exception.
- Attack others, including denial-of-service traffic, port scanning, brute-forcing, exploitation attempts, or operating command-and-control infrastructure.
- Send spam or bulk unsolicited messaging of any kind, from any protocol.
- Distribute malware, ransomware, stealers, or tooling whose purpose is to compromise other people's systems.
- Mine cryptocurrency, or run distributed computing workloads unrelated to hosting a game.
- Operate open proxies, VPN exit nodes, Tor exit nodes, or traffic relays.
- Host content that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights, including pirated game files or paid plugins you do not hold a licence for.
- Harass, threaten, dox or incite violence against anyone, or use the service to coordinate that behaviour.
- Attempt to access accounts, servers or data that are not yours, or to escape the isolation of your own container.
- Resell the free tier, or automate the creation of accounts or servers.
Mods, plugins and code execution
Most game servers can run community mods and plugins, and many of those are, by design, able to execute arbitrary code inside your server container. That is a normal part of how these games work.
You are responsible for what you install. Only install code you obtained from a source you trust.
Your server runs isolated from other customers and from our infrastructure, but that isolation protects us and other customers — it does not protect your own server's data from a malicious plugin you install yourself.
Resource use
Every plan has memory, CPU, disk and player limits. Deliberately trying to exceed them, or to consume shared resources at the expense of other customers, is a breach of this policy.
We enforce limits automatically. Servers that persistently exceed them may be throttled, suspended, or terminated.
Your players
If you run a public server, you are responsible for moderating it. You should have a way for players to report problems to you.
We do not moderate the contents of your game server and generally cannot see inside it. We act on reports of illegal content or activity.
Reporting abuse and copyright
Report abuse to [email protected]. Include the server address, what you observed, and when.
For copyright complaints, send a notice to [email protected] identifying the work, the material you say infringes it and where to find it, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and that you are authorised to act, and your signature.
We investigate valid notices and will remove or disable access to material where appropriate. We will pass the notice to the affected customer, who may submit a counter-notice.
How we enforce this
Depending on severity we may warn you, throttle or suspend the server, terminate the account, or report the matter to law enforcement.
For anything actively harming others we act first and explain afterwards.
Termination for breach of this policy does not entitle you to a refund.
